SPF Litopenaeus vannamei Post-Larvae (PL)
At the heart of Sapthagiri Hatcheries lies our world-class SPF L. vannamei post-larvae production. Each larva is the result of meticulous breeding, rigorous screening, and superior nutrition. Sourced from genetically elite broodstock, our PLs are grown in ultra-hygienic, biosecure environments and are consistently tested for all major pathogens.

Elite Broodstock Program
Sapthagiri's broodstock program is the backbone of our genetic performance. In partnership with Hendrix Genetics and Kona Bay, our SPF brooders are selected from lines that demonstrate superior feed conversion, faster growth, reproductive efficiency, and resilience to stress and disease.
Each broodstock undergoes rigorous quarantine, multi-stage PCR testing, and conditioning in climate-controlled tanks with customized salinity, temperature, and biosecurity settings. The result: consistent spawning, superior nauplii quality, and long-term genetic advancement.
Live Feed Innovations
We are India's first hatchery to establish fully biosecure SPF polychaete worm culture facilities, producing both bloodworms and sandworms. These live feeds are naturally rich in essential fatty acids, amino acids, vitamins, and hormones essential for:
- Improving larval molting, gut health, and survivability
- Boosting fecundity and spawning consistency in broodstock
Additionally, our in-house production of premium Artemia biomass and high-density algae supports:
- Larval mouth opening and early stage development
- Stable nutritional profiles without contamination
- Fully traceable, consistent feed quality throughout the year
Vannamei Aquaculture Farms
Our in-house Vannamei shrimp farms, spanning over 200 hectares, serve as live demonstration units for sustainable, high-performance aquaculture. Key highlights:

Processing Plant
Sapthagiri Hatcheries is establishing a world-class shrimp processing plant designed to deliver export-quality, value-added seafood with full traceability and compliance. Engineered to meet global standards, this facility will include:
- Fully automated lines for raw, cooked, and IQF shrimp formats
- Cold-chain systems to preserve freshness and product integrity
- Integrated traceability from pond to packaging
- Sustainable operations with advanced effluent treatment systems
Once launched, this facility will complete Sapthagiri’s seed-to-market ecosystem, empowering farmers with better value and connecting Indian aquaculture directly to global markets.
Custom Feed Solutions
Our nutrition scientists are formulating specialized, phase-specific feeds for shrimp larvae, juveniles, and broodstock. These micro-bound and micro-coated diets are designed for:
- Enhanced digestibility and gut health
- Stage-wise energy distribution for growth and stress resistance
- Climate-specific nutrient balancing for Indian pond conditions
Once launched, these feeds will allow farmers to integrate Sapthagiri’s seed-to-harvest nutrition ecosystem.
Probiotic Manufacturing
A proprietary line of hatchery and grow-out probiotics is under development, tailored for Indian aquaculture conditions. These include:
- Water Probiotics: Improve pond microbial balance, reduce harmful ammonia/nitrite.
- Gut Probiotics: Promote beneficial microflora in shrimp intestines, increase disease resistance, and improve FCR.
All probiotic strains will be developed and tested at our in-house microbiology and qPCR labs for efficacy, shelf life, and stability.
